Descent Miniatures: Merriod WIP

Hi there! Here's something I'm working on at the moment. I got inspiration to get back with my Descent minis, as I purchased the "Shadow of Nerekhall" expansion for my Descent 2nd edition. So I got lots of new monster and hero minis, and of course, loads of props and dungeon floortiles...

I like this mini... Shark with tentacles, and can walk on ground too. Hooray high fantasy :) I think this is gonna be used in Pathfinder too. Jumping up from a underground lake...

Hasslefree Goblins and Borak, the Orc Champion WIP

Here's some gobbos I purchased from Hasslefree minis about year ago... Finally got some paint on them. Here's some WIP-pics.

Here's eight Goblins. They are multipart minis, and there's some really nice poses you can make out of the parts. Four with spears and another four with swords. I think the paintjob is ready with them, just some work to be done with the bases.

And here's Borak the Orc Champion, also from Hasslefree... I used alot of red on the mini, to give it some extra character. The sculpting is really great on this mini. I like it alot!

This shield is made for bashing. This funny perspective doesn't show the long spike in the middle... but it's there :) Borak's armour looks really heavy and impressive.

Here's a happy group shot... and the spike in the shield. Bye now!

Bring Out Your Dead!

Hi there!  Again, it's been a while since my last posting... Painty time has suffered from some drawing commissions. I'm getting back to my miniatures soon. I decided to post one of my drawings here, although it's out of context with my wargame hobby blog :) Sorry bout that, but here you go...

It's a album cover for a Finnish rock band Kirk Grim. They asked for a post apolcalyptic landscape theme for the cover, and wanted to add the three headed bulldog in it... so here's what they got. There's two members of the D.O.A. (dogfood on arrival) gang on the front, who deliver some snack for the Kirk Grim, the doggy on the background... And that's pretty much the story :)

Here's the back of the album, that was made a negative. My friend, who's a graphic designer made the colors and rest of the tricks on the artwork.

Here's a link to some Rock... http://kirkgrim.bandcamp.com/

And I'll be back with the minis soon! Bye now!

Old School Bushes out of Raindeer Moss

Hi there! It's been awhile since my last posting. I've sure done some painting and hobby stuff, but it seems to be a challenge to take any fotos, because of the darkness in Finland and my lazyness:). It was in the news awhile ago, that in our city, we had five hours of sun shine last month. FIVE HOURS MAN..! And no snow at all at the moment, so it's really dark out there... I hope we dont get a black christmas (again).

Anyways... here's some pics.

So, I went to nearby forest to take a walk with the kids. And because I see the nature with the eyes of a wargamer, I soon came up with some terrain ideas, and had to pick up some scenery stuff... Here's a clump of raindeer moss.

I cleand it up from all the needless and insects... and stuff. Then I made seperate small "bushes" out of the clump.

Then I wanted to add some colors of the fall... So I just decided to sink the "bushes" in a mix of acrylic colors and water... for few hours.

And here are few of them based...

At this point the bushes seem quite fragile to handle... so I'm thinking of spraying some varnish on them. I'll report if it makes any difference :) Bye now!

Serpents of Hellfire: More Verterans

Hi there! I found time to paint / repaint three of my veterans... Here's some pics.

One of the brothers has an Auspex-scanner, to detect hidden enemy troops in cover. In the other hand he's carrying a Flamer, to turn them, when found, into "crispy critters"...
Other two brothers are equipped with pair of Lightning Claws. And they're in the mood for slicing!

Blip... Blip... Blip... Blip... "Two heretics detected in the ruins... Grilling time"!

In the last posting I decided to make the Veteran robes black. Well, I changed my mind again, as you can see...

I like more of these light brown robes more... It refers to the Dark Angel origin, and gives them more of that "Brotherhood" feeling.

More veterans coming soon... Bye now!
