Hello! Here's the first rank of the old Savages painted. It's a pleasure to give these old classics a new coat of paint...
These are gonna work as "Skulks" unit in my Kings of War army. Completely useless in game terms, but they're looking good :)
Some shield designs...
Crappy pics with my phone. Sorry bout that :(
More Savages soon. Bye now!

Gludbug the Savage Orc 1987
Hello! I'm putting together a small unit of Savage Orcs for KoW, to be used as Skulks Troop. I have a punch of old 1987 Savages around and this "beauty" for a unit leader figure.
The base said "Gludbug" in bad handwriting... Not much to be found about this mini in the net. It might be made by Perry twins, as are most of the -87 Savages.
It took me some time to figure out all the details in the miniature. I found no pics of this mini painted to help me out even a bit. And I had to fix a shield for it, for all my old shields are M.I.A.
But it was worth a little effort, and I'm happy with the result. Next some other Savages... Bye now!

The Boyz Are Back In Town: FB 3rd Edition Regiment Painted
Hello there! Here's the regiment of WHFB 3rd edition painted. These are the minis I started the hobby with, along with plastic Rogue Trader Marines (those are still unpainted). I'm very pleased to get these finally in paints after 30 years... Here's the pics!
Taken with phone... Not the best of my pics, but they'll have to do now :)
The sand on the bases is actually darker and better looking live...
From an different angle...
I love those old shield designs... I have to find rest of the shields somewhere, for I didn't have enough for all of the orcs. Ebay, here I come...

Old Hammer Orcs, First Rank Painted
Hello! Here's the first rank of the regiment painted. There's gonna be 15 more of these to fill up the requirement of twenty orcs for KoW-regiment.
KoW rules doesn't use musicians or standard bearers in the unit... so I'm thinking of skipping them for now. Of course they will make the unit look better, and they will be useful in FaBa. We'll see..
Old models rank up nicely..! No need to bang your head to the wall to get these in line :) Waaagh!

Warhammer, Old Metal Orc
Hello! Just a quick update on the Orc regiment...
I found one of the old metal hero orcs to fill up the leader point in the first rank. It was great to paint this old classic miniature. And it fits to the unit like a glove.
I'm not sure when this mini was made. I guess it's late 80's. Looks good :)
More soon... Bye now!

Old Warhammer Plastic
Hello there! I dug out my old plastic Orcs from the 80's. Not many left of these classics... But enough to make a regiment for Kings of War. Few goblins also still hanging along.
These came with "Warhammer Fantasy Regiments" box back in the days. The box included 60 miniatures, divided to six different Warhammer races. There were Dwarfs, Skaven, Orcs, Goblins, Dark Elves and Wood Elves. I still have few figures left from the other races... somewhere.
I painted the first of these great minis... Trying to keep the palette simple as possible. Only three main colors in this one. I have to find the old shields if I still have them... They can be anywhere :)
More of this regiment soon I hope... :) Bye now!

Old Epic and FB Gaming Stuff...
Hi there! Just a fast update... I took pics of old gaming stuff, that was gathering dust at my friends cupboard, for he pretty much quit wargaming long ago. So he decided to give the stuff away.
Good old Space Marine game here... I have picked up my Eldars from this starter box, when this game was new :) We purchased this together long long time ago. Here's some good collection of Marines, Rhinos and Land Riders. Quite many orcs too. Over twenty Wagons still in sprues... Buildings still looks good, and come very handy when we start playing this again :) The Titan has suffered some serious injuries, but nothing that a plastic glue can't fix.
Here's the old (5th?) edition starter that came with Bretonnians and Lizardmen. Lizards are long gone, but the Bretons are still in the box. My friend actually collected Empire Army that was also in the box... but as we split Empire the loot, I got few ranks of core, and ten Great Sword figures... I don´t know what to do with these minis. Maybe some painting practise for my kids :) There was also Handgunners, Flagellants, Hellblaster, Pistoliers and other stuff in the box. They went for my friend, who had a dream, where God told him to collect an Witch Hunter Army or something... So I guess he had to have them. But the old rulebooks are very inspirational, with bright colored pics minis on almost every page. Some interresting scenarios and experience tables for campaigns too. Brings back some memories... Ah, the good old days! Bye now!

One more Grenadier Orc
Hi there... Got the last Grenadier "Orc with Sword and Shield" painted. Here's some pics...
It was nice mini to paint... And this one is my favourite sculpting of the three, that came in a same blister. And it was so back in 1987 too :) I painted all three pretty fast with big brush strokes, concentrating more to "get something done" for a change. Still, I'm pretty happy with the result for all three.
Here's a group shot... Ready for some action. Bye now!

Ral Partha 1984
Hello! Just a quick update here... I painted another nostalgia mini today. It´s a really old Ral Partha Knight. I dont know it´s "True Name", for I didn´t find it in Ral Partha catalogue. I´m gonna use it with my Descent miniatures, as Sir Meric Farrow :) Here´s the pics.
I painted the robes to match with Descent Sorcerers... So maybe the mini fits better in the game :)
All the "Liutenant Encounters" are out door fights, so I didn´t bother to paint the dungeon floor tiles on this one... And it´s more practical in other (RPG) use... Bye Now!

Messing with Old Classics...
Hi there! I finally decided to work with my old minis, that I posted about earlier... I have used these long time ago in RPG action (Rune Quest, old D&D and stuff). They were some of my first paintings from late 80's, and now when I looked at them, they seemed really sad and crappy :( So I had to give them a new life :)
As you can see... the painting´s not that great :) But the sculpting is high quality. They´re mostly Grenadier Minis, but there´s some Ral Partha stuff too in the ranks.
Here´s my poison for the job... And I don´t know what you call this stuff in English... but it´s the stuff you use for cleaning up the surfaces before painting them... Straight translation could be something like "paint wash". Anyways, it proved to be good stuff for this :)
I poored some of the stuff in a plastic carton (no water added), and put the minis for a swim...
After about two hours the paint was peeling off. I worked them one by one with an old tooth brush under warm water...
And the results were better than I hoped for.
One of the Orcs lost he´s scimitar in the process, but that can be fixed :)
And in the heat of the inspiration, I grabbed one of the Grenadier 1987 Dwarfs on to the painting table...
The one that used to look like this. I wonder why I have painted the leather and the fur parts with lilac..?! Must be a good reason for that... now forgotten.
And in about two hours it turned up to look like this. It aint "cool mini or not" quality, but I´m sure it´s better than it used to be :)
I guess it´s kind of sad to ruin old nostalgia paint jobs... But less so, for I now have them documented :) And I think the new layers of paint give the beautiful sculpting more justice. It sure deserves it! For me, it´s also good to see, comparing the "now and then" pictures, that I have acquired some painting tricks since the late 80's... (and inspiring to know, that there´s still lots of tricks to learn :)... Bye now!
